With the Arizona complex, the company has now secured the most diverse and competitive product portfolio, which encompasses pouch-type and cylindrical batteries for EVs
The complex consists of two manufacturing facilities which are the company's first stand-alone cylindrical and ESS battery plants in North America. The cylindrical battery plant, called LG Energy Solution Arizona, will produce 46-Series batteries for electric vehicles (EV).
LG's 46-millimeter cylindrical battery is said to have five times more energy capacity and six times more density than the previous version, which allows for a 16 percent longer driving range. “LG Energy also has an ESS battery plant in Holland, Michigan, and they're trying to balance the market, but they are definitely proceeding with it.” A render of LG Energy Solution's cylindrical battery plant under construction in Arizona. [LG ENERGY SOLUTION]
LG Energy Solution has increased the battery sizes and is currently developing the 46-series battery. The 46-series offers 46 mm in diameter and a wide range of height (80 mm – 120 mm), further expanding the application of cylindrical batteries. * LEV: Light Electric Vehicles.
