ABC News' Fritz Farrow contributed to this report. Russian drones attacked a thermal power generation facility in the Kyiv region overnight on Sunday, Ukraine's Energy Ministry said.
"One of the thermal generation facilities in the Kyiv region has come under massive shelling," Ukraine's Energy Ministry said in a statement. "The goal is obvious -- to cause even more difficulties for the civilian population of Ukraine, to leave Ukrainian homes, hospitals, kindergartens and schools without electricity and heat," it added.
The Kyiv Pumped-Storage Power Plant ( Ukrainian: Ки́ївська гідроакумулювальна електростанція) is a pumped-storage power station on the west bank of the Kyiv Reservoir in Vyshhorod, Ukraine. The Kyiv Reservoir serves as the lower reservoir and the upper reservoir is located 70 m (230 ft) above the lower.
