The U.S. electricity system is changing rapidly. An important driver of this change is the growing deployment of distributed energy resources (DERs). DERs produce and supply electricity on a small scale and are distributed over a wide area. They primarily provide electricity to local consumers in homes and businesses.
In 2023, the Company, in collaboration with NYSERDA, conducted a solicitation to procure 120 MW of solar projects to participate in the program. Bill credits will start flowing to eligible customers on December 1, 2023. A second-round solicitation will be conducted in early summer 2023.
In its 2020 DSIP filing, National Grid outlined the plan to continue enhancing its forecasting methodologies for DER technologies and probabilistic load forecasting. Since then, the Company has implemented the following enhancements:
