NCC allots NT$16bn for base station subsidies
The government has budgeted about NT$15.5 billion (US$548.5 million) to subsidize telecoms for the building of 5G base
Currently, Taiwan has over 35,000 5G base stations with 5G signals covering 94% of its population. As the services are deployed in 3.5 GHz spectrum (3,340 MHz to 3,520 MHz) and with increased 5G penetration, TAS has received reports and requests from clients to assist them in resolving interference issues caused by nearby 5G base stations.
This analysis and comparison will provide useful reference data for the planning and development of Taiwan's 5G private networks. In the past, the only wireless network that could be used for data communication in enterprises or factories was Wi-Fi.
As for Taiwan's 5G spectrum policy and private network development, since the launch of the “Taiwan 5G Action Plan” in 2019, the Executive Yuan has begun to coordinate with relevant government departments to plan and improve Taiwan's 5G spectrum policy and private network development, and the 5G spectrum will be gradually opened to applicants.
According to Article 4 of the Japan Telecommunications Law, it is necessary to apply for a wireless base station license before setting up a 5G enterprise private network base station. After a license application is accepted, the standard processing time is approximately one and a half months.
